Our clients’ stories speak to the trust and confidence they’ve placed in us — and the meaningful outcomes we’ve helped them achieve.
Justin (00:00):
We actually heard about Direct Wealth through a good friend of ours. We were speaking to her up on our pool area at home, and she mentioned Erin and all the great work that Erin was able to do for her. That sparked our interest and we reached out.
Brooke (00:15):
I guess it was a little bit daunting really, when you think about, you’re talking about your finances with someone that you’ve never met before and in particular as a couple. You are also speaking quite openly around your individual circumstances, but also together as a couple.
Justin (00:30):
Erin’s experience really shone through in that first meeting. She was able to explain a lot of things to us. We don’t necessarily come from a finance background, so that explanation was sort of important for us in terms of what the process was going to be and the sort of steps that we would take post that first meeting. Prior to meeting Aaron and running through what we needed to run through, we had our own financial goals. This actually put all of our financial goals on the same page and we co-authored a financial plan together. I think the main thing that we’ve seen is the optimization of our insurances. That’s ultimately resulted in a reduction in our outgoing expenses when it relates to insurance, our superannuation funds in terms of the changes we’ve made in that particular space, and really having a growth view on what that portfolio was as opposed to a standard retail fund. Aaron and the team have been able to really tweak and optimise the returns on that.
Brooke (01:28):
It was just some really clear things to make us feel like we had this roadmap for our future and we feel confident and we just feel secure, which is really great
Justin (01:39):
And I’ve seen the best performance in my super fund effectively since its inception, so we’re extremely happy with the returns and the reductions that Erin and the team were able to make.
Brooke (01:52):
Just recently, actually, probably less than 12 months ago, we were lucky enough to purchase a beachfront apartment. That was one of our, I guess, long-term goals that kind of crept up a little bit quicker than we had hoped, but
Justin (02:08):
It really did.
Brooke (02:09):
But we’re really excited that we were able to secure that property and not only have Erin’s support and guidance through that, just managing our finances, but also just the connections that she has in the industry because we were then able to utilise her network to be able to then liaise with them to assist us with getting a loan and everything from kind of purchasing that property to receiving the keys on settlement. So that was a really great highlight for us. Yeah, the thing we value most is absolutely just that relationship. I mean, that is number one for us. We want to feel comfortable with the person that we’re working with.
Justin (02:51):
For me, I think it’s about the constant review process and that constant feedback loop regularly catching up with Erin and being able to update her on changes our life, and Erin being able to update us in terms of changes, in terms of, I guess potentially the approach changes in her team, additional advice that she can bring to our plan every year ongoing is definitely key for us. I
Brooke (03:16):
Would say absolutely. Don’t be hesitant. I think that it’s really important to seek that financial advice and support from someone that is knowledgeable and can provide you with all the information that you need. I think we are not taught this at school and as an adult it’s important to make an appointment and I’d say, yeah, definitely pop in and see the team at Direct Wealth because they’re going to provide you with a whole range of information and lots of things to consider. So definitely don’t be hesitant.
Justin (03:49):
There are a lot of aspects from my perspective that come into play when you’re talking about your personal finances and there’s a lot of things you may not even know about. So not going to see a financial advisor’s not going to open up any of that knowledge to you, and when you look at it by yourself, it can be daunting. Someone to actually coach you through and step you through it in a really easy to understand why I think is critical to your financial success.
Ross (00:00):
My name is Ross. This is my wife Denise. We’re both retired. We enjoy caravan and looking after our grandkids. We previously, we go along to our financial advisor for a half yearly or yearly checkup, and they did a lot of talking, did things on whiteboards, and really when we walked out we were still scrambling. None the wiser. Yeah, none the wiser. Whereas we went along to Simon and the very first day he sat opposite us and explained things in very easy to understand terms. Turned a pad around, showed us, and then said, do you understand this? Is this what you’re looking for?
Denise (00:45):
They’re very approachable. Even if you ask a very basic question, they’ll explain it to you in terms that we can understand, which is very
Ross (00:55):
Good, as they say, no question is silly. If we ask a question, there’s obviously a reason. So they are more than happy to break it down, talk to us about it, put it in a different format so that we understand, and it just makes life so much easier.
Denise (01:12):
So after meeting and dealing with direct wealth, we were able to purchase a caravan, which has been Ross’s dream for many, many years. And on our retirement we’ve seen quite a few places. We’ve been to West Australia, we’ve been to South Australia and Victoria, and had wonderful, wonderful trips, which are very enjoyable.
Ross (01:36):
We don’t have to worry about funds from our superannuation. We had enough there. When we go in these places, we’re able to just enjoy and take in what we’re seeing and not worry in the back of our mind that we shouldn’t be here. We can’t afford this.
Denise (01:53):
Have we got enough money
Ross (01:54):
With that apparently? Yeah. So it’s just been a life-changing experience that direct wealth have been able to set up for us. We understand totally where we’re going and how we’re going to get there.
Denise (02:06):
Anyone who is hesitant to talk to a financial advisor, I would recommend that just go and do it. There are so many different variants of what you can do with your money and your wages before you retire. It keeps changing all the time. And direct wealth, keep up to date with everything. It’s been very grateful. So please go and see a financial advisor.
Ross (02:33):
Yeah, these guys, that’s their job. They’re dealing with it day in, day out. They keep an eye on the markets. I don’t even know where or how to look at the markets, whereas that’s what they do and they’re on top of it. So go along, talk to them. They can tell you what’s happening in plain, simple to understand language and you’re in front. So definitely go and ask the question.
Hi, my name’s Sarah. I have a business, 64 Property, in New Farm, and I’ve been working with Direct Wealth for about three to four years now. I was wanting to seek out a financial advisor for many reasons, but our family was growing quite rapidly, and for that reason, we had lots of different financial issues that we needed to work through. Also, with my business, with tax help, superannuation, and insurances, I was really seeking some great advice around that, and that’s why I came to Direct Wealth.
My initial meeting with Erin was fantastic. I mean, I came in very blinded. I didn’t know a lot about finances, superannuation, or any of that in general. She made me feel comfortable, understood, and I could ask any questions without feeling silly. I walked out of the meeting feeling like I had a whole heap of new knowledge and that I was being really taken care of.
If you are not working with an advisor, it’s a must. I just think it gives you clarity; it gives you direction. It’s an industry that I don’t specialise in, and that’s why I go to someone else, and it’s a no-brainer. They will help you get from A to B to C, and they’ll help you do that for the rest of your life. It’s not just a quick fix, and there you go.
So if you’re not working with someone, I would highly recommend it. It has changed my life at the moment, and I know it will for years to come. If I could go back before I started working with Direct Wealth, and particularly with Erin, I would say to myself to start sooner. It might sound cliché, but I’ve gotten myself into sticky situations. I didn’t know anything about the finances or the super or the insurance or whatever the topic is—I just didn’t know.
So if I could go back, I would’ve started sooner. I would’ve reached out sooner, started the work sooner, and I know I could have avoided some tricky situations that I found myself in. That would be the only advice: start sooner and start as soon as you think about it.
Hi, I’m Kate. I’ve been retired for about a year. Working with an advisor at Direct Wealth has given us peace of mind and confidence about our investments, and we feel that our future is in good hands.
Our initial meeting was very good. We felt very comfortable with the advisor, and we talked about lots and lots of things—what we wanted to do with our life, their life, and all sorts of things. It was good fun, and then we got down to the nitty-gritty. We found that the information, experience, and backup that they have made us feel very comfortable and confident with the plan that Direct Wealth has put in place for us.
We are able to fulfil our goals of doing lots of travel but also know that our long-term future is secure. It’s great that every six months we have a meeting with our advisor to track how we are going, what things are happening in the market, and if we need to tweak something.
Our financial position has improved since we began working with the advisor because we can, daily if we want, look at the value of our portfolio, and it has certainly increased since we first started. You can track it, which is wonderful for us, so we can see where we are.
We have already recommended Direct Wealth to friends and family. One of the reasons is that it is such a smooth transition. It is very professionally handled, everything is explained and very transparent, and you have a clear path of where you are going.
We’ve just found that working with Direct Wealth has been a really positive and comfortable experience. It’s given us a clear path of where we’re at, what we can do with what we’ve got, and we can ask for more information at any time if we need it. They’re always there if you have to ask a question. If there is an issue that comes up, say with your accountant about a tax issue, you can just call them. They deal with it, and that has been great as well, and it’s dealt with promptly, so you can just move on and plan your next holiday.
